Skin can become very dry, prone to acne, very oily or it can attract dirt and pollutants. Just because the sky is cloudy doesn’t mean you are safe from the sun. Different types of skin react to the rains differently.As long as there is daylight, the skin needs protection from UV rays. Apply sunscreen 20 minutes before you step out and re-apply every four hours. A mix of equal quantities of cucumber and potato juice can soothe sun-damaged skin. Cleansing your skin is the most important step to keep it looking fresh and healthy. For dry skin, grind ten almonds with two spoons of honey, massage for a few minutes, rinse and pat dry. Oily skin needs a mild cleanser to get the dead cells and grime off the skin. An oatmeal scrub or a ripe of papaya pulp is great as a mild exfoliant.
The next step is toning the skin. In humid weather, the air is filled with microbes. A good anti-bacterial face wash is a good idea if you are prone to acne. A few drops of chamomile oil in a spoonful of milk, is a good toner for dry skin, use ten drops of lavender oil in one tablespoon of water. The final step in a skin-care regimen is moisturizing. Use an oil-based moisturizer, if you get wet often. Mix a spoonful each of honey, fresh curd and jojoba oil, and apply on your face and neck. Leave it in for 10 minutes before washing off. For oily skin make a face-mask with two drops each of strawberry oil and fresh orange oil in two teaspoons of rosewater.
