Today’s Hollywood Body

Today’s Hollywood body for men and women are muscular but lean. It stresses tone over bulk, a six-pack over big pecs and biceps. It’s Brad Pitt. It’s Matt Damon in The Bourne Identity and its sequels. It’s Daniel Craig as James Bond.

Women and Weights

When women tell me they’re scared to lift weights because it will bulk them up and make them look like NFL linebackers, I bring them into my office and show them one of my favorite pictures. It’s a shot of Marilyn Monroe lying on a bench doing dumbbell chest presses.

Your body is designed with muscles that oppose each other. It’s how the body stabilizes itself. Your chest muscles in the front of your body oppose your back muscles. This is how the shoulders are stabilized.

The importance of good nutrition is not a new idea ... Already 400 BC Hippocrates said that "Food is our first medicine", and according to Chinese medicine millennium foods are also remedies that need to comply with an instruction manual specific to prevent and even treat diseases.

Vista examines the hardware of your system and determines a performance value from what it observes. Some of the software use this as base and refuse installation or limit the range of functions—you find this very annoying.

Vista doesn’t support Aero effect if the performance index is less than 3. Even other programs respond with restrictions. If you simulate a higher value for your system, you can activate the functions which have been deactivated —the execution speed would possibly suffice.

Note: Obviously the actual performance of your system does not change. Prepare for the change by letting Vista examine your system. To do this, double click on ‘Performance information and tools’ and ‘Update my score’ in the control panel. Wait till the check is complete. You have to temporarily switch off the user account control to save the modifications to the corresponding file. To do this, start ‘regedit’. Navigate to ‘HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\ CurrentVersion\Policies\System’ key. Change the DWORD value ‘EnableLUA’ to ‘0’ and confirm with ‘OK’. Restart Windows after closing the registry.

Manipulating the score:
Type ‘Wordpad’ in the search field of the start menu and start the text editor. Select ‘File | Open’ and navigate to the ‘C:\Windows\ Performance\WinSAT\DataStore’ folder. Select ‘All Documents’ in the combination field for data types. Here you will find a separate XML file for every evaluation that has been conducted so far. Open the most recent one. The numerical values of the last test are written in lines 14 to 21. Change the numbers to a higher value—to 5.9 at the most and save the file. You should then reset the changed registry value to ‘1’, activate the user account control and restart the PC. You will see the manipulated results when you next go to ‘Performance information and tools’. Do not conduct another performance test—this will erase the changes you have made.

Background:
The performance index classifies your hardware components and recognizes values between 1.0 and 5.9 at present. Microsoft will widen this range due to more efficient hardware in future. The performance index will probably render the efforts of penning down system requirements when purchasing new software. The performance index comes in handy while buying a new computer or when upgrading individual components since you can very easily determine the weakest component.
