Although the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) says that the CRAs can charge you a reasonable fee for each copy of your credit history that you order, you’re entitled to free copies of your credit reports under certain circumstances. For example, the Fair and Accurate Credit Transactions Act (FACTA) gives you the right to obtain a free annual copy of each of your credit reports. It also gives you the right to obtain free copies of your credit reports when you know or believe that you’re the victim of identity theft.
Ordering Your Free Annual Credit Card Reports
Every 12 months, you can order one free copy of your Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion credit reports. You can order them all at the same time or you can order them individually throughout a 12-month period. Your free reports should arrive about 15 days after you place your order.

- Order them online at www.annualcreditreport.com. This is the report-ordering website that the three CRAs were required to establish under federal law.
- Order by phone at 1-877-322-8228.
- Order by mail. You can write a letter requesting one or more of your free annual credit reports or you can download a request form at www.annualcreditreport.com/cra/requestformfi nal.pdf. Fill it out completely and mail it to: Annual Credit Report Request Service, PO Box 105281, Atlanta, GA 30348-5281.
